Selamta’s vision is to see children growing up knowing their God-given dignity and worth through the love of a healthy family. That can’t happen when children are left in institutions or on the street. Selamta is committed to bringing children out of institutions and into the loving arms of family.

Selamta’s Kids’ Center is the first step in this process.

As children come into our Kid’s Center, we ask the following questions:

Is reunification with biological parents possible? If not…

Is extended family able to raise this child? If not…

Is domestic adoption likely? If not…

Then a Selamta Forever Family Home is the best place for this child to grow into a thriving adult.

The Kids’ Center serves as a transition home for up to 18 children coming out of government institutions or unsafe living situations. Each child is fully assessed for medical needs, educational support, psychosocial counseling, and has the opportunity to grow in their faith.

Many kids who come to us don’t have any documentation proving their identity, like birth certificates. Some of them have never had the chance to attend school. Our team serves each child by getting to know them personally, understanding their history, and searching for potential biological family or separated siblings. This process takes 6-18 months for each child who comes to us through government referrals.

Your support helps Selamta stand in the gap and continue to bring children out of institutions and into healthy loving families for as long as necessary.

Before coming to Selamta’s Kids’ Center, Kia and her slightly younger sister were unsure when they would see their little brother and sister again. After being discovered by authorities living alone in a single room, the siblings had been separated for months because the local institutions didn’t have the capacity to keep them together.

At Selamta, these precious children were able to live under the same roof again. Although reunification with their biological parents wasn’t possible, these four children were welcomed into a Forever Family, allowing them to grow up with their siblings for the rest of their lives.
